Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will star in a movie together, the first since their 2005 action hit Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where they famously met on set.

The film, By the Sea, is a drama that Jolie wrote and will direct. It is being described as an "intimate, character-driven drama."

The couple will co-produce the film as well.

Jolie praised Universal Pictures - which will release By The Sea -  saying it has "created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker."

Universal Chairman Donna Langley says she's thrilled to be working with Hollywood's hottest couple:  "Angelina and Brad represent two of Hollywood's brightest talents and we are excited to be a part of their collaboration on this powerful piece."

Jolie is also rumored to have created roles for her six children in a remake of Cleopatrawhich may also have Pitt attached.

A source told the Daily Mirror, "Their whole family life is rooted in films but Brad and Angie didn't want the children to follow in their footsteps. However, acting is in their genes, and it could turn out to be the start of something big for the next generation."

Daughter Vivienne played alongside her mom in Maleficent, but that only happened after a long talk with Brad -- and, according to Jolie, because Vivienne knew it was her mom behind the terrifying title character. "I only put Vivienne in the film because the other children her age would be scared of me because I looked quite scary as Maleficent. Neither one of us want our children to be actors, but it was just I really couldn't ask another four or five-year-old to do it because kids on set did actually get scared and they would cry when they would see me."
