Get ready to be blown away by Carrie Underwood.

The country singer is gearing up to release a follow up record to 2012's platinum selling Blown Away, which debuted at number 1, and she promises her fans that they aren't going to have to wait too long for it, as she is already writing new music.

"I've been writing a lot. It feels really good," the former American Idol winner revealed to the Hollywood Reporter, adding that it will be differ slighty from the music she has released in the past. "It's just a progression, a different sound without losing myself in it. I'm not taking some crazy musical departure from what I've done, but it definitely feels different. It will feel different, look different, sound different."

Underwood hasn't revealed if she has any duets on her album, but her collaboration with Miranda Lambert on the single "Something Bad" has scored the two blonde bombshells a No. 1, and Carrie admits that she definitely hopes to work with Miranda in the future.

"'Something Bad' was just the right song, the right time," Carrie explains. "All the stars lined up, and we got to do it. I guarantee that won't be the last time we sing together, but it just hasn't happened for this next album."

On top of the new album, Carrie will also reprise her role as the NFL Sunday Night Football girl, where she will sing the opening song "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night," for the second year in a row.

"This year, they were going for a roaming party-concert- lots of lights and they wanted it to feel really high-energy," she explains of the opening number. "I got to go back into the studio and make a few tweaks."

The Oklahoma native says she feels honored to be reprising her role, as she loves football.

"I'm honored they asked me to kick it off. I love football," Underwood says. "Hopefully when people hear the song, they'll just feel ready for the big game!"
