Those excited about the recent casting of Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII should be thrilled to hear about the latest rumor about her character. According to some sources, Christie has apparently been practicing her lightsaber skills and could be hunting down one of the movie's leads, John Boyega.

If you've been paying attention to some recent plot rumors, Boyega is reportedly set to portray a young man on a journey of rediscovery. You can read our coverage on this rumor HERE!

Allegedly, he's playing a former Stormtrooper that leaves his post. That's where Christie's character could come in.

According to Badass Digest - which admits that this new rumor is speculation with no confirmation - Christie is set to hunt down Boyega as a sort of Imperial Guard or something along those lines. The lightsaber training does make us think that her role could be more sinister, though. Perhaps she'll be the first Sith we see?

Slash Film covers some more aspects of this rumor:

As far as we know, this character was written as a gender-neutral figure, but there's some speculation that Christie now has the role that was once offered to Benedict Cumberbatch. There's also some question about the source of details for this character reveal: are these notes all from the early Michael Arnt draft, or do they carry forward into the current shooting draft? Lots of uncertainty here.

Either way, if this rumor is true, this is the first news of a villain character for the film. Again, this is all speculation ... but it's certainly some cool stuff we're hearing!
