Arrow Season 3 Spoilers: Main Villain Details Revealed

Season 3 of the CW's Arrow will arrive this fall, and fans of Oliver Queen's adventures are speculating on what will happen in the third season. Specifically, fans are wondering who will serve as Oliver's nemesis in the third season after Deathstroke filled that role in Season 2.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg spoke to EW and did not reveal the identity, but he did offer some intriguing details.

"Slade had a very specific agenda-he was out for revenge and had set up this elaborate five-year plot," he said. "What's interesting about the villain in season three is that he doesn't necessarily disagree with [Oliver]. He doesn't have any personal animus towards the Arrow, and he actually in some ways has a very similar worldview. [But] the Arrow is thinking too small." 

As we know from the Season 3 premiere description, Oliver thinks he can have a normal life. But this villain does not seem to agree.

"In some ways, as Oliver is struggling with whether or not he can be the Arrow and Oliver at the same time, the villain of season 3 is saying, 'Being Oliver Queen is what's holding you back from fulfilling your true destiny,'" Kreisberg said. "So it's a very interesting dynamic, but it is tied in the same way that Oliver last year was wrestling with, 'Am I a hero or a killer?' The theme of identity is tied up very much in how the villain is presented to Oliver."

Some fans believe John Barrowman's Dark Archer will be the main antagonist next season, but Kreisberg squashed that theory when he said the show would soon cast the character.
