Robert Newhouse, once a star for the Dallas Cowboys, would tear up the NFL each and every week. However this week he sadly passed away from heart disease on Tuesday, aged 64. The hard-hitting running back played in three Super Bowls, leading his team to one Super Bowl win. The cause of his death was heart disease, the Cowboys informed the media. With the NFL season just weeks away there's sure to be a ton of well deserved tributes for the star.

He played 12 NFL seasons, staying at the Cowboys for that entire period, and for a long while became their main rusher, and one of the best in the league. One memory springs to mind, and that's a play in the 1978 Super Bowl, in which the Cowboys called a trick play,: brown right, X-opposite shift, toss 38, halfback lead, fullback pass to Y.

Newhouse was nervous, though. He explained in 1978, saying "I was worried because I had all this stickum on my hands. So Preston Pearson handed me this rag, and I was in there" - the huddle - "scrubbing it all. They'd seen us run the play right but not to the left and so didn't recognize it in time."

Newhouse took a pitch from the QB and ran to the left, but he stopped and threw the ball to his right, which ended up being the 29-yard score that won them the game. The Cowboys survived the threat, and won 27-10, largely because of this superb running back.
