The July 28, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw emanates live from the Toyota Center in Houston and opens with WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, who says he hoped Plan C, Brock Lesnar, would never happen.

Cena says The Authority wants the title off him so badly that they hired a mercenary. He says some fans cheered last week because they want Lesnar to beat the hell out of him, which starts a Yes! chant. He hypes Lesnar for a bit and says Paul Heyman was right when he said Cena would get the beating of a lifetime, but Cena says he will beat Lesnar again just like he did at Extreme Rules in 2012. Cena says no one can control Lensar and he does not know who else can stop him.

Heyman comes out and says Cena is about to become a victim just like the Undertaker, who no one has heard from since WrestleMania 30. He says Cena is on the defensive and Lesnar will victimize him. Heyman says Cena is passionate about being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but Lesnar's only pleasure comes from destroying him.

Cena points out the word "passion" and reminds him that the fans still chant ECW every now and then, which makes Heyman smile. Cena says he and Heyman have passion, but Lesnar does not. Cena says Lesnar would have to beat every last breath out of his body in order to take the title away from him, because he is walking out of SummerSlam as champion.

Cesaro's music hits and he comes out to hug a perplexed Heyman. Cesaro says he cannot talk like that to his friend, makes fun of Cena's sneakers and says he can't wrestle. He challenges Cena to a match and Cena accepts as he cuts off Heyman in the process.

Cena wins the match with an Attitude Adjustment off the second rope.

Stephanie McMahon is backstage with Triple H and says she is having second thoughts about their plan because she cannot go back to jail. She says this better work and Hunter says it will. Randy Orton walks in and demands Triple H change the SummerSlam main event to put him in it. Triple H says he won't do that and Orton does not get another title shot until he takes out Roman Reigns, who will keep getting n the way. We also learn Reigns will face Kane later in the night.

Paige is in the ring and says she made a mistake last week when she attacked AJ Lee and that she would never do something like that again. AJ comes out, gets right in Paige's face and says she gets why she's upset. She took the Divas title away from her, but she challenges Paige to be like her and not do things behind her back. If she has a problem, she should say it to her face. Paige says she is her friend and if she doesn't believe that, then she must be crazy. AJ is about to snap but Paige sarcastically says she would never make fun of her mental health. AJ feigns forgiveness and then attacks Paige, who retreats up to the stage and says they are supposed to be friends. AJ stands in the ring and challenges Paige to come and get the title.

Triple H and Stephanie come out and Hunter says he has been disappointed with the fans a few times during his career, and last week was one time. In fact, he was disgusted and angry when the fans laughed at his wife 's arrest last week, and he says he will never forgive them for that. He says Brie Bella antagonized Stephanie, who was just defending herself. Triple H says the charges have been dropped except for the assault and battery charge, so they are here to reconcile that misunderstanding.

Stephanie, choked up, asks Brie to come out, but Chris Jericho's music hits instead. Triple H says they are in the middle of something, but Y2J says he just wanted to make her feel better with a song and proceeds to sing "Bad Boys." He tells her not to worry because Orange is the New Black in 2014. Jericho says the WWE Network was created so fans could watch her get carted away in a police car over and over again.

Jericho says Triple H has stood by his wife but asks why he didn't go with her immediately last week. Y2J says Hunter is starting to realize what he has known for a decade: that Stephanie is a "filthy, brutal, etc." but Triple H cuts him off before he gets to the end. Triple H tells him to focus on Bray Wyatt, and Jericho says that's why he's out here. Hunter tells him he'll have to wait until SummerSlam for that, but tonight he gets to face Seth Rollins, who attacks him from behind with the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Dolph Ziggler and The Usos defeat The Miz and Rybaxel when Ziggler plants Ryback with the Zig Zag. Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston were at ringside for this match.

R-Truth what's ups his way to the ring for a match with Bo Dallas, who tells him that he could never be undefeated like him, but it's okay because all he has to do is Bo-lieve. Bo does a premature victory lap during the match and R-Truth rolls him up for a quick pinfall. Bo shakes his hand and says he can't "bo-lieve" R-Truth was the first one to beat him. He attacks him with the microphone and assaults him. He does another victory lap afterwards.

Lana and Rusev come out with a Russian flag to do more of their usual pro-Russia schtick, but this time they use a picture of former President George W. Bush to get some more heat in Houston. Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger come out hoisting an American flag. He cuts her down verbally and leads a "We The People" chant before Swagger rushes after Rusev and attacks him. Rusev quickly gets the upper hand by throwing him into the barricade and then into the ring. Swagger recovers and tries to cinch in the Patriot Lock but Rusev scurries away. Swagger waves the American flag to end the segment.

Damien Sandow comes out dressed as an astronaut and says Houston has thousands of problems, all of whom are sitting in the crowd. Adam Rose comes out with the Exotic Express and tells him to be a rosebud instead of a lemon. Sandow says no one can hear you scream in space and wants to see if that's true on Earth. He attacks Rose before the bell, but Rose quickly hits the Party Foul for the pin.

Kane comes out for his match with Reigns, who gets attacked by Orton in the crowd. Reigns fights off Orton and turns his attention to Kane. Orton re-enters the ring and tries to attack Reigns but eats a Superman Punch. Kane then chokeslams Reigns and leaves. Orton continues to assault Reigns and hits the hangman's DDT off the barricade. He smashes Reigns' head off the steel steps a few times. He places him on the announce table and hits him with an RKO, which doesn't break the table. So he hits him with another one and smashes the table. Officials check on Reigns after the commercial break.

Fandango faces Diego, who comes out with El Torito, Summer Rae and Layla and Diego picks up the win.  El Torito gores Fandango on the apron after the match.

Backstage, Stephanie knocks on Nikki Bella's door looking for Brie. Nikki said Brie will be here shortly and Stephanie hopes Brie can be reasonable and hear what she has to say. Nikki tells her off and goes back into the locker room.

Naomi and Natalya defeat Alicia Fox and Cameron.

Chris Jericho vs. Seth Rollins ends in a no-contest when The Wyatt Family attacks Y2J after he hits a Codebreaker on Rollins. Bray hits Sister Abigail on Jericho to end the segment.

Stephanie comes out and says she is humbled because getting arrested is a life-altering experience. She says her children's friends are getting teased and they are scarred for life. Brie comes though the crowd and enters the ring to say she has heard enough and wants to get to the point.

Stephanie asks her to drop all charges and Brie asks why she would do that. Stephanie says she doesn't deserve this and Brie says she deserves to go to hell. Stephanie offers to treat Nikki fairly going forward and to give her a raise. Brie says she will accept this but she has other demands, including getting her job back.

Stephanie says one Bella is enough and Brie threatens to leave. Stephanie relents, but Brie says she wants one more thing: a match at SummerSlam against her. Stephanie says she has not competed in more than a decade and tries to back out.

Brie threatens to leave again but Stephanie says she won't lower herself to fight Brie in the ring. Brie says she'll see her in court and Stephanie stops her. She tearfully agrees to fight her and then slaps Brie off the apron. She starts a Yes! chant but Brie attacks her. Officials, including Triple H, break up the two women as the show goes off the air.
