The alternative rock band the Killers ended their short American tour of four July shows Monday night amongst a crowd of amped up fans at Webster Hall in New York.

The sold-out crowd bumped along to a set full of old favorites and new gems, with front man Brandon Flowers starting off the night by ripping into the lead single "Runaways" off of their upcoming fourth album "Battle Born," to be released on September 18.

After a brief hiatus starting in January 2010, the Killers went on to tour many countries throughout Europe and South America, with no stops on North American soil. The band, originally from Las Vegas, returned to the US this past November with a show in Florida. In August Flowers and fellow band mates Dave Keuning, Ronnie Vannucci, Jr., and Mark Stoermer will return to the United Kingdom and beyond to pursue the music festival circuit, with plans to headline the V Festival and a Perfect Day Festival.

On their newest single "Runaways," Flowers' vocals sound less boy band-ish compared to past tracks such as "Mr. Brightside" and "Somebody told me" and more matured, if not more confident. Even after four years (the last album the Killers released was 2008's Day & Ages) The Killers in no way disappoint fans with their signature compositional moves- Flowers still belts out that catchy, romanticized chorus amid a sensational synth-pop blend of orchestral melodies and pop-rock sound.

The Killers are set to head down under to Australia and New Zealand this winter to headline the Big Day Out Festival alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
