Running Wild with Bear Grylls debuted this week with the celebrity survival series' first guest, Zac Efron. While the episode was action-packed and all-around breathtaking, the standout moment of the show came when Zac opened up about his drug addiction and rehab to Bear.

"It was just so quick. It was shocking. The challenging part was never the work; that was never it," the High School Musical star explained. "It was sort of the in-between work-- the social aspects outside of it. Everywhere you go [there are people watching] and it can be confusing, and pretty soon you need a social lubricant."

From there, Efron kept diving deeper into his addiction and opened up to Grylls.

"It got to the point where I was caring less about the work and waiting more for the weekend where I couldn't wait to go out and let loose and have fun," he said. "But when Monday and Tuesday were difficult to get through, I thought, 'This is bad."

Zac added: "I just really never again want to take anything from the outside in to feel comfortable in my present skin, and that takes a lot of work. It's just meditation and stopping and slowing down your brain."

What do you think of Zac opening up to Bear during the premiere episode of the new NBC show? Clearly this took a lot for Efron to say on camera and also while in survival mode with Bear. Do you think the fact that he was constantly in danger on the show made him want to open up a bit? Let us know in the comments section below!
