Arrow star Stephen Amell gave a lengthy video interview with reporters during Comic-Con 2014 last weekend in which he dropped numerous spoilers about Season 3 of the CW series.

Season 3 Opens Like a James Bond Movie

Amell teased that the first scene of Season 3 opens with a huge montage/set piece reminiscent of the first scene of a James Bond film, which immediately drops the audience into a heavy action scene. He said it may not tie directly to the plot of the episode, but it should excite people.

The actor also said "the first episode of the season will remind you of a famous scene from a Martin Scorsese film."

You Have Failed This City

The actor also said the opening scene brings back the "You have failed this city" line from Season 1. Amell revealed he had to fight with producers to get this line back, because they envisioned it as something confined to the first season. "Really? Because when I meet fans, they love that line," Amell said. "They want me to say 'You have failed this city' in the Arrow voice." Amell read the script for the Season 3 premiere and loved it, but he got extra excited when he saw the line had returned.

Thea's Story

Amell said he is thrilled that Willa Holland will get some deeper, darker material to play with in Season 3 and had nothing but praise for her as an actress. As for what happens between Thea, who ran off with Malcolm Merlyn, and Ollie, he said the two will "relate on a much more adult level and really talk about things."

Oliver and Roy will also be at odds with each other somewhat, as Roy will discover "skeletons in his closet" that cause him a great deal of inner turmoil.

Hong Kong Flashbacks

Colin Donnell will return as Tommy Merlyn during the flashbacks to Oliver's time in Hong Kong. Amell said Ollie sees Tommy talking to Malcolm from a rooftop.

On this subject, Amell said he made a choice in the first two seasons to play off of other characters in a way that hints that Oliver has met these people during his time away from home.

Amell also revealed we will get answers as to why Fyers wanted to shoot down a plane in the first season.

Olicity

Many fans have been clamoring for "Olicity" for the better part of two seasons, and it looks like they'll finally get at least a taste of it when the two characters go on a date in the Season 3 premiere. Oliver has been a ladies' man for much of the first two seasons and more or less slept with every woman not related to him. But Amell said that would change this year.

"Oliver has one woman this year," he said. "That woman is Felicity. There's some of the stuff we do in the premiere, regardless of if that means Felicity and I are going to be together, if I meant what I said in the finale - we talk about some pretty important stuff in the premiere and if Oliver were to have a fling it would undermine some of that. So, I think that the cavalcade of women is going to slow down or stop."

Asked if Felicity is the "long game," Amell simply smiled and responded, "Who's to say?"

Oliver's Son

Amell said he actually came up with the way the show will reintroduce the plot about Oliver's son, though that may not happen this season. He pitched the idea to the writers and they loved it. Funnily enough, executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg pitched Amell's own idea back to him weeks later!
