Christian Bale took time to fly out to Aurora, Colorado to visit the victims of Friday's shooting at "The Dark Knight Rises" midnight showing.

A survivor named Carey Rottman, who was shot in his leg, posted on his Facebook status on the day of the tragedy, "Shot in the leg at Batman. Where is he when you need him. Please pray for everyone there."

On Tuesday (July 24), Bale did show up in Rottman's hospital room as Christian Bale, not as Batman.  The survivors were quite happy to meet Bale.

A representative for Warner Brothers told the Denver Post, "Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers."

The horrific massacre that left 12 killed and 58 wounded is one of the worst in US history.

Bale said in a statement on Saturday, "Words cannot express the horror that I feel.  I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
