Dustin Johnson Banned! PGA Tour Suspends Golf Player For Cocaine Use!

Prominent golf player Dustin Johnson has been suspended from the tournament for at least six months. The PGA Tour has banned the star athlete from participating in any future games after testing positive for cocaine.

According to Golf.com, the 30-year-old has has failed his drug tests on three accounts. The first failure occurred in 2009 for marijuana. In 2012 and in this recent year,  they have both been about cocaine. This time around, the sports athlete isn't so lucky as this suspension has been made public to the press.

In a statement made to the media by the management company, Johnson freely admits, "I will use this time to seek professional help for personal challenges I have faced." The once-prodigious player continues, "By committing the time and resources necessary to improve my mental health, physical well-being and emotional foundation, I am confident that I will be better equipped to fulfill my potential and become a consistent champion."

This leave of absence means the deferred sports star will actually miss the PGA Championship. The season's final major tournament takes place without him next week in Louisville, Kentucky. The major championship will slip away from his fingers because of this suspension debacle. 

The ramifications will continue long after the PGA Championship. ESPN reports that the golf professional will miss the FedEx Cup playoffs also. Though the PGA Tour wishes Johnson well, we will have to wait and see if his return to the sports arena will come with open arms.
