With Marvel's Daredevil already making headway with its main cast lineup, showrunner/executive producer Steven S. DeKnight teased just a bit about what's store with the upcoming Netflx series. Viewers are in for a special treat with Vincent D'Onofrio as the Marvel super villain, Kingpin.

In the Marvel Universe, Wilson Fisk is the unbeatable crime lord, known as The Kingpin, who has beaten the likes of Spider-Man and the Punisher. Audiences have already seen an interpretation of the Marvel baddie by the late Michael Clarke Duncan in the live-action superhero flick. Now we will get to see a different version of Dardevil's enemy performed by the Law & Order: Criminal Intent actor.

In the video, the Spartacus head writer teases, "So far working with Vincent D'Onofrio, I'd say Kingpin would be pretty scary."

DeKnight definitely knows a thing or too about scary after working on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. The television scribe previously wrote about bloodsuckers, demons, and other types of monsters that go bump in the night.

The showrunner also describes the tone, "We're going for a kind of gritty, 1970s New York feel of the show. We love the idea of the beauty and decay of the city." DeKnight continues, "With Hell's Kitchen being a place that is both horrible and beautiful at the same time, that's why Matt Murdock loves it so much and wants to protect it."

It seems like the showrunner is on the same page with Joe Quesada's "gritty" adaptation. This also sounds similar to what director Joe Carnahan had in mind too.

Viewers are in for something different and scary with Vincent D'Onofrio's turn as The Kingpin. Readers, are you excited to see Daredevil?
