One would think that a biopic film adaptation based on Stephen Hawking's life would be mostly about his achievements in astrophysics or perhaps his unfortunate illness leaving him in a wheelchair. That's definitely part of the plot for The Theory of Everything, but mainly the film focuses on a love story between Hawking and his first wife Jane. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones star in this new movie, and this week we were treated to a first-look trailer that has us all anticipating the Nov. 7, 2014, release date.

Director James Marsh recently spoke about the movie, noting that it is truly a love story mixed into a biopic.

"That's the heart of it for sure and that's definitely the way I approached it as a filmmaker as well as with the two leads," he told Deadline. "That's really the essence of the story, it's a very unusual love story in a very strange environment, a very strange sort of landscape, and that is I think the abiding theme of the film. It is how these two characters, these two real people transcend all the complications and curveballs that life throws at them."

Here is a synopsis of the film:

This is the extraordinary story of one of the world's greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of - time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed. The film is based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh ("Man on Wire").
