Samuel L. Jackson In Talks To Star As ‘The Black Phantom’ Alongside Kevin Hart In New Screen Gems Action Comedy, Replaces Jamie Foxx

Everyone's favorite snake-wrangler, Samuel L. Jackson, is reportedly in talks to star as The Black Phantom in a film of the same name, according to Deadline Hollywood. Also appearing in the film will be famed comedian Kevin Hart.

The leading role was originally slated for Academy Award Winner Jamie Foxx, who won the Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 biopic Ray, but he reportedly dropped out due to scheduling conflicts and Jackson was later approached and offered the role.

The action comedy is being backed by Screen Gems and holds a behind-the-scenes team of A-listers, including screenwriters Dave Lease and Megan Hinds, director Tim Story (Think Like A Man / Ride Along) and producers Will Packer (Think Like A Man / About Last Night) and Will Gluck (Friends with Benefits / Easy A).

Coined as an "outrageously inappropriate comedy," The Black Phantom will tell the story of the over-the-top partnership between a mob hitman (Hart), who finds himself the victim of a double-crossing, and the man hired to kill him –– The Black Phantom, Jackson's character.

The film will be the first collaboration between Jackson and Hart, and marks the reunion between the Pulp Fiction actor and the Screen Gems production company president Clint Culpepper. 

The role of The Black Phantom would certainly be an interesting one for Jackson to take, but there's no doubt the actor would knock it out of the park. And matched with the likes of Kevin Hart, we can only guess that we're in for a hilarious ride.
