Williams publicist, Mara Buxbaum mentioned that the actor had been battling from severe depression lately. Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres tweeted in shock as they heard the sad news of William's passing.

The TV host wrote, "I can't believe the news about Robin Williams. He gave so much to so many people. I'm heartbroken."
