Beloved actor/comedian Robin Williams died of an apparent suicide on August 11, 2014. The 63-year-old funnyman touched the lives of several individuals - including Detroit rapper, Eminem.

Williams (who also spent the majority of his childhood living in a popular Michigan suburb right outside of Detroit) hung-out with Slim Shady backstage at NYC's legendary Madison Square Garden before the 45th Annual Grammy Awards (February 2003).

The awesome throwback photos (also featuring Eminem's close friend and frequent collaborator, Proof) have since gone viral online via Twitter and Instagram:

@RareHipHopPic: "Eminem, Proof and Robin Williams."

@PWalkerShady: "Eminem and Robin Williams together... We miss you rest in peace Rob!"

Shady later took the stage to perform his hit song, "Lose Yourself" -

Eminem later earned five Grammy nominations for the record-breaking "8 Mile" track in 2004.

Williams was a huge fan and supporter of the MMLP2 emcee. Back in 2002, the "Dead Poets Society" star appeared on MTV's "Total Request Live" and said this in regards to Shady's mega box office success (via RapDirt):

"I want to send out props to Eminem, congratulations on $54 million! And very soon, maybe an Academy Award."

Em did win an Academy Award for "Best Original Song" that same year (again, for "Lose Yourself").

Former host Carson Daly responded to Williams with, "What do you think? That's got to rattle Hollywood a bit - a guy like Eminem."

The late actor's response - "That should shake it up right now, executives going 'Oh, my God.' I want to see if he gets to sing 'Yo, b*tch.' It's like, whoa! Watch all the censors."

Carson: "You might be up against him for 'One Hour Photo'" (referring to the Oscars).

Williams: "Maybe Jack [Nicolson] will be there going, 'Look at the little guy go.' I hope he gets it, just to watch him accept it and see him bleep his a$$ through all that. I think it will be good - he's shakin' up the parameters and it's up for grabs now."

And now, Eminem is a "Rap God."

RIP, Robin Williams.
