With Justified, Sons of Anarchy, and Fargo becoming popular amongst audiences worldwide, FX is about to add another series to its ever-growing lineup. From visionary director Guillermo del Toro (The Devil's Backbone), the vampire drama, The Strain, has been renewed for its second season.

In our recent recaps, we have followed epidemiologist Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) as he uncovers a vast conspiracy that has been building for generations. When a dead airplane lands, those passengers inside will wake up infected from a deadly ancient disease. The infection will spread, transforming them into undead creatures of the night.

According to Canada's Global News, FX is set to announce the renewal of The Strain for a second season. The series will be back in Toronto starting production around mid-November. During its first season, the13-episode arc took place from September 2013 to late April.

From what we know so far, this will be the final season of True Blood on HBO. That means The Strain has a chance to fill in the empty void of bloodsuckers and grab those viewers who want something to bite into.

Because del Toro and Chuck Hogan's trilogy of novels have been adapted by Dark Horse Comics, does that mean the second season will follow the same path?

Del Toro tells Buzzfeed, "The first season is the first book. We have enough anecdotes in the second book to do two seasons. And I think that by the end of the third season, we'll have enough threads of story to do another two seasons."

The third part of the arc, The Night Eternal, will be released by Dark Horse on August 20.

Check out The Strain's 'Occultation' Sunday on FX at 10pm:

The vampire invasion will continue to spread in The Strain. Readers, are you excited for another round of vamps?
