It was just a matter of time before celebrities got involved in the ice bucket challenge. The viral videos, which are to spread awareness and to raise money for ALS research (also known as Lou Gehrigs disease) have been creating quite the buzz on social media sites over the past few weeks.

We posted an article earlier this week about Lance Bass, Martha Stewart and Ansel Elgort, amongst other participating in the challenge, where they dump ice cold water over their head and challenge friends to do the same.

Today it's getting even colder as Demi Lovato, Adam Levine, Justin Timberlake, and more are participating in the cause.

Demi accepted the challenge pouring not one but five buckets on her head and in turn is nominating five people including, John Taylor, Christina Perri, Madison De La Garza, Phil McIntyre and Wilmer Valderrama.

Justin Timberlake along with The Tennessee Kids all dumped huge buckets on their heads in the video below and challenged the cast of The Tonight Show including Jimmy Fallon, Steve Higgins, and The Roots.

Blake Shelton, Carson Daly and Adam Levine took time out of filming the new season of The Voice and participated in the challenge. Carson went for the old school boy band members calling out Joey Fatone, Kevin Richardson and Nick Lachey, while Blake kept it in The Voice family choosing Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams.

Amyotrphic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative disease that attacks the brain and spinal cord and causes suffers to lose their motor functions. According to Hollywood Life, the videos were the brainchild of Massachusetts resident, Pete Frates, 29, who has been living with the disease since 2012.
