MStars News has learned that 20/20 co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas has checked into rehab for alcohol abuse for a second time in less than a year.

According to TMZ, Vargas stated, "As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process. I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down and for that I am ashamed and sorry."

The 20/20 investigating anchor, spent a couple of weeks in rehab in late 2013 for the same issues, alcohol abuse.

ABC's comments about Vargas entering rehab for the second time has been the same as last time, that they are "squarely behind her" once again.

Vargas, is married to Grammy award winning singer, Marc Cohn, has two children and has revealed that she was "committed to battling and addressing this debilitating disease" and has thanked everyone for their support during her battle, according to FoxNews.

Fox reported that ABC added in their statement, "We look forward to having her back at ABC News when she feels ready to return."

Vargas, 51, mentioned her battle with alcohol abuse during an interview back in January on Good Morning America.

The co-anchor admitted that she had suffered panic attacks since she was a child.

"I dealt with that anxiety, and with the stress that the anxiety brought, by starting to drink," Vargas shared in the interview.
