One of the few complaints about Joss Whedon's The Avengers in 2012 was the way it used, or perhaps misused, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. The character has not appeared in a Marvel movie since, but it looks like that could soon change.

Renner spoke with Collider and revealed he may have a larger part in Captain America 3 in 2016. "There are rumblings of Captain America 3," he said. "I don't know what's going to happen there. I've got to find the time, man," he said with a laugh. "I'm trying to stay hoe and I can't."

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) got a much larger role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so it's not impossible to add Hawkeye to the mix to help Cap find Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).

Superhero Hype spoke to directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo and asked about Renner's comments. Understandably, the directors did not give a definitive answer, but Joe Russo did offer this short tease. "There are certainly characters that Cap is close to or has a strong relationship with that would make sense appearing in his films," he said. "I think that's all we can say about it."

In the comic books, Captain America and Hawkeye have a fun relationship and a good rapport, so it would be interesting to see that brought to life on the big screen.

What do you think of Renner's comments? What about the Russos' brief tease? Do you think we'll see Hawkeye in Captain America 3, or will we have to wait for another Avengers movie after Age of Ultron to see him in action? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
