Marvel may have created the X-Men, but Fox currently owns the rights to the mutant franchise and has been pumping out X-Men movies since 2000. The latest installment, X-Men: Days of Future Past, was the highest-grossing film in the series and made more money than any other superhero film this year.

In one of those wonderful legal quirks, both Marvel and Fox are allowed to use the character of Quicksilver, which is why Evan Peters played the character in Days of Future Past and Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play the speedster in The Avengers: Age of Ultron next summer.

So while there is a bit of competition between the two studios, those in power at each company tend to speak positively about the other's films. And Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige's remarks about Days of Future Past were no different.

Feige spoke to Empire Magazine (via Comic Book Movie) and revealed he has been thinking quite a bit about Bryan Singer's movie. "I've been thinking about Days of Future Past a lot, which I had nothing to do with, in terms of the resurrection of a franchise. I think they did a very good job with that."

Feige then mentioned a few "threequels" outside of Marvel Studios in terms of wanting to avoid the problems they had. "On Iron Man 3, I thought a lot about XMen 3 and Spider-Man 3 and I thought a lot about Toy Story 3, and how to avoid falling into threequelitis, which is why we went down a lot of the roads we went down on that movie."

What do you make of Feige's remarks? Let us know in the comments.
