A Tenacious D show was shut down by police at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay's House of Blues on Saturday, July 28 after a fan in the crowd was stabbed in the leg and rushed to the hospital.

Actor and comedian Jack Black, known for his starring roles in "School of Rock" and "Tropic Thunder" among others, is also founder and front man of the rock and roll comedy act Tenacious D, alongside Kyle Gass. At Saturday night's show while the two were entering the first chords to their hit song about camaraderie entitled "Friendship," a fight broke out in the audience amongst concertgoers. Although details about the actual stabbing remains unclear (some reports identify two stab victims), the police have someone in custody and are not looking for any further suspects, and plan to commence an investigation into the violent act soon. The victim, who incurred other minor injuries, was sent to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Eyewitnesses told the Journal-Review that a large pool of blood was left in the bar area near the stage following the incident.

Due to the violent outbreak, the Tenacious D show was put to a halt and ended a half-hour early, with Black and Gass not returning back to the stage anytime throughout the night (the show was originally scheduled for 90 minutes).  Fellow rock comedians and hair metal band Steel Panthers were set to play at the same Las Vegas venue, but also had their show cancelled. Steel Panthers drummer Stix Zadinia wrote on Twitter following the announcement of the cancellation:

@stixzadinia: We could not do our show last nite. There was a stabbing at the Tenacious D show. The police shut down HOB 4 the nite. Fukin bummer.

This incident follows reports of other recent violent acts that took place during music concerts, including separate occasions where fans were knifed at Swedish House Mafia concerts. Cro-Mags' former bassist Harley Flanagan also caused an uproar during New York's CBGB fest earlier in July after he stabbed ex-bandmates William Berario and Michael Couls, and supposedly bit one of them.

Tenacious D are currently on tour promoting their newest album "Rize of the Fenix," and are set to play in Los Angeles on July 31.
