The news station CNN regrets its decision to air a photo of Sarah Palin posing with husband Todd at a Chick-fil-A in Houston, TX, given the photo was "mistakenly" juxtaposed with pop artist Pink's 2006 hit "Stupid Girls."

It seems like the staff at CNN in charge of musical production are trying to send a not-so-subtle message here. Chick-fil-A is an American fast-food restaurant with headquarters in Atlanta, GA that has been under fire recently given the company's open opposition to same-sex marriages. The photo CNN aired went along with a story about how Palin stopped by a Houston Chick-Fil-A, tweeting that she wanted "to support a great business." Anchor Randi Kaye introduced the segment on Sunday with, "Sarah Palin is apparently hungry for chicken and controversy."

During a speech in The Woodlands on Friday (an upscale suburb outside Houston) Palin turned to her aide Jason Recher and stated, "We drive by a Chick-fil-A. We don't have that in Alaska. Love me some Chick-fil-A. So we'll go there, Jason, on the way, OK?" followed by the crowd erupting in cheers.

In the video clip (which you can watch below) the camera zooms by Kaye before embellishing the photo of the Palins onscreen, and Pink's hit single "Stupid Girls," off of the album "I'm not Dead," blasts in the background. The song slowly fades out when Palin's face fully emerges onscreen. Some viewers and media outlets took this song/photo mash-up as an intentional jab made by CNN producers, although a CNN spokesman told Mediaite, "The music selection was a poor choice and was not intended to be linked to any news story. We regret any perception that they were planned together."

The aired segment features the introduction to Pink's song "Stupid Girls," where the singer repeats the phrase "stupid girls" multiple times before the music fades out.
