With hundreds of celebrities pouring giant buckets of ice water on their heads for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in the name of charity, now Archie Comics has joined in on the phenomenon. Artist Dan Parent (Kevin Keller) and writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Afterlife With Archie) drench beloved comic book icon, Archie Andrews, for a good cause.

This is very different from the usual viral videos, such as the cast of Once Upon A Time and  Glee, where you would see them either accept the challenge or donate to the charity organization. Comic Book Resources got the exclusive illustration from Parent, where we see the comic book character getting doused in cold water by longtime love interests, Betty and Veronica.

Aguirre-Sacasa supplied the dialogue and came up with the story behind the drawing. In the narrative, Reggie Mantle, Archie's rival who also has eyes for Veronica, nominated Archie for the ice bucket challenge. Our red-headed hero accepts the challenge and laughs off the freezing water off his back.

In the second page, Archie nominates DC Comics' Batman, Marvel Comics' Wolverine, and Dark Horse Comics' Hellboy. We will have to wait and see if they respond. As reported here, Wolverine is busy with his death coming up in September and Hellboy is currently in Hell.

You can check out the other page here.

This is a different side of Archie as well. We also mentioned how the comic book character died a heroic and tragic death in a previous arc. To see him smiling again and sharing his good sense of humor is a welcomed return.
