'Greys Anatomy,' 'Scandal,' 'The Mindy Project' Crossover Episode: Shonda Rhimes Books Guest Appearance On Mindy Kaling's Show

Get ready for a crossover event so epic it's going to be bridge the gap between two major networks. Shonda Rhimes has just booked a gig on Fox comedy series, The Mindy Project. The creator of ABC hits Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and new show How To Get Away With Murder is joining the Fox comedy series in a season three role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the executive producer will be starring on-screen alongside Mindy Kaling in an episode during the new season.

This will be Rhimes acting debut, and it shouldn't be too difficult of a role as she is set to play herself. However, additional details of how she will come to be in Mindy's life are still being kept secret. The show runner has said in the past that she is a big fan of Mindy and the show.

It has been a pretty big year for Shonda as she not only is getting set to premiere her newest series on ABC, but she also signed a deal that will keep her with the network for the next four years. In addition to that, Rhimes is also gearing up to write her first memoir, and also a script for new film War Correspondents.

Watch the season three premiere of The Mindy Project when it airs on Tuesday, September 16 on Fox.

Shonda's series, Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder, will all premiere as part of ABC's new TGIT (Thank God It's Thursday) lineup on September 25.
