American Horror Story: Freak Show just got even creepier today as a new trailer for the series, as well as the character descriptions have just been revealed for the fourth season of the show. Creator Ryan Murphy is back for the latest installment of the horror franchise and he is pulling out all the stops. Recent American Horror Story: Coven Emmy winners Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange, are also along for the ride, as today we are learning some new details on Bates' character.

In the new poster for the season, that was just released by The Hollywood Reporter, we see the whole cast posing as their respective characters. From the image we can see Kathy Bates will be playing a bearded lady, Sarah Paulson will be a two heads woman, and Michael Chiklis will play a man with super strength.

The poster, which also shows returning stars Evan Peters, Angela Bassett and Frances Conroy, also has a hashtag for the season #WirSindAlleFreaks, which is German for "we are all freaks." The catchphrase makes sense since Jessica Lange's character is a German ex-pat who is also the owner of the freak show.

The new trailer for the series titled "Spotlight" features an acrobat swinging in a circle ring as they takes their high flying act to the top of the big top.

As for the feel of the new season, Murphy explains to The Hollywood Report that is it getting back to the dark nature of the series.

"It's darker than Coven; it feels very unique," Murphy told the entertainment site. "I directed the first one and I haven't done that since the very first one of season one. It feels like a Douglas Sirk movie, it's very 1952 presentational and then the horror is an unexpected jab.

Murphy also goes on to compare the new installment to last year's Emmy award winning season Coven.

"As opposed to last year, which was crazy camera work and comedy this year feels different," the creator explained. "The special ability cast that we have is amazing and I feel so thrilled because so many of them, it was their dream to be actors and they didn't have any opportunities. There's a great community. They feel part of something perhaps for the first time in their life and that's an amazing thing that I was really emotional about when I was directing them."

The new season will premiere on Wednesday, October 8 on FX.
