Fashion Police star and comedienne Joan Rivers has just been rushed to the hospital this morning, Thursday, August 28, at 9:30. The star was undergoing throat surgery when she suddenly stopped breathing. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and is currently being treated after suffering from cardiac arrest.

According to TMZ, the 81-year-old comedienne was getting surgery on her throat at the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic on the Upper East Side. She went under the knife to get a procedure done on her vocal cords.

Deadline is reporting that daughter Melissa Rivers along with Joan's grandson Cooper are on route to New York, where they are rushing to be by Joan's side.

According to the NY Daily News, Joan is in critical condition as her assistant Graham Reed stated, "She's not conscious, but she's stable."

Joan has been pretty busy this week, as she had to rush to film the Video Music Award and Emmy editions of the popular E! series Fashion Police on Tuesday before promoting her book Diary of a Mad Diva on Wednesday at the Time & Life Building in New York City.
