Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City has just released a statement regarding Joan Rivers' condition. The Fashion Police host, was rushed to the emergency room after complications arose during a throat surgery at the Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic on the Upper East in Manhattan.

The star was reported to have been in cardiac arrest and stopped breathing while in surgery. At that time an ambulance was called to take the comedienne to the hospital.

According to Gossip Cop, some news sites are reporting that the 81-year-old is critical while others are saying she is now stable. Despite the discrepancy, Sid Dinsay, a rep for Mount Sinai commented on River's case.

"This morning, Joan Rivers was taken to The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where she is being attended to," Dinsay explained. "Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support. We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available."

As Mstars reported earlier, Joan's daughter Melissa boarded a plane earlier this morning and is making her way, with son Cooper, to New York to be with her mother during this difficult time.

Joan has been pretty busy this week, as she had to rush to film the Video Music Award and Emmy editions of the popular E! series Fashion Police on Tuesday before promoting her book Diary of a Mad Diva on Wednesday at the Time & Life Building in New York City. She was also scheduled to perform tomorrow, Friday, August 29 in Red Bank, New Jersey.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joan and her family at this time.
