2012 Summer Olympics 'Isles of Wonder' Music Playlist Tops Charts [LISTEN]

The release of "Isles of Wonder: Music for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games" (directed by English film producer and director Danny Boyle) on Friday night has led to its dominating the download charts in France, Belgium, Spain, and the UK.

The 86-track playlist was leaked earlier in June, and features hits from such British musical legends including The Rolling Stones ("Satisfaction"), Queen ("Bohemian Rhapsody"), the Beatles ("She Loves You"), Sex Pistols ("God Save the Queen"), The Clash (London Calling) plus much more.

Many popular genres were covered on the album, from glam rock to pop to rap to even a touch of new wave.

The album currently hovers at no. 12 on iTunes in the U.S. "Isles of Wonder" debuted at no. 5 on the Official Album Chart in the UK on Sunday.

The Opening Ceremony itself, which took place on Friday night (July 27), featured notable performances by Sir Paul McCartney, the indie rockers Arctic Monkeys, and UK rapper Dizzee Rascal among a slew of other dazzling performers.
