Joan Rivers has been facing an uphill battle since she underwent routine vocal cord surgery last Thursday. The Fashion Police host, who stopped breathing and suffered from a cardiac arrest on the table at the Upper East Side endoscopy center, was then rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital where she has remained ever since.

While there was news on Sunday that Joan was being brought out of her medically induced coma, today we learned that the 81-year-old comedienne has been moved from the Intensive Care Unit and is now residing in a private room, according to E! News.

Joan's daughter, Melissa Rivers, released a statement earlier today about the transition.

"My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable," Melissa stated. Thank you for your continued support."

Joan is still on life support as Melissa explained in her statement yesterday.

"On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received," she said. "At this time she does remain on life support. I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."

The star's condition remains serious but an insider spoke to E! News and said that "everyone is hopeful and taking it day by day."

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Joan and her family during this difficult time.
