Check out the just-released list of nominations for MTV's 2012 Video Music Awards! The show will air on MTV on September 6.

It was also announced that R&B/soul songstress Alicia Keys and the pop-rock band One Direction (gaining attention after their recent appearance in a commercial for X Factor UK) will be performing. Some stand-out artists who top the list are: Rihanna (leading the pack alongside rapper Drake with five nominations), Katy Perry (with four chances to win), and Justin Bieber (always a fan favorite).

Not to mention that supposed rivals Chris Brown and Drake (after seen getting into a heated bar brawl earlier this summer) are going head-to-head in the Best Male Video Category. The two were said to get in a fight over the hip-hop princess Rihanna. (Which is funny, the song that Drake is nominated for is a duet with Rihanna, "Take Care").
