During a press conference in Chicago, country music favorite Garth Brooks announced that he would be putting his music online for the time, via his website. - To add he's launching an alternative to iTunes, GhostTunes, which according to Brooks, "allows artists to sell music any way they want to."

The Country singer has had a prolonged opposition with iTunes, having refrained from permitting his music to be sold anywhere on the Internet. As the third best selling artist in the history of music, this new turn of events is massive regarding what his fans can now expect. So what will GhostTunes offer its costumers?

GhostTunes LLC, allows artists to select how their music will be sold. For example, like iTunes, an artist can allow fans to purchase singles or entire albums. However, one thing that GhostTunes will provide that major digital retailers don't is the selling of albums in bundles. For example, that artist can choose to sell two albums, three albums or their entire discography at discounted prices.

Brooks announced that this fall he'll release a new album as well as one in 2015. Both of the new albums along with past albums will be sold as a bundle of $30.

With the option for artists to sell their albums as they choose this could possibly be a good turning point for musicians who oppose the era of iTunes. "The difference is that the copyright owner gets to make that decision." Brooks told the press conference. He explains that they will remain small, "We don't want the corporations wagging the tail of the dog of digital music sales."

The website Technology Tell determines that the digital release of Brooks music could make him the best selling solo act in history, surpassing the King himself, Elvis.

"Singles will be pre-orders for the albums. If someone hears the single and they don't like it, they've got radio to listen to. If they hear the second single and they like and decide maybe I want this, they can order it as a pre-order for the album."

The service went online Thursday at www.ghosttunes.com. As stated Brooks is also releasing his music for the first time on his newly relaunched website www.GarthBrooks.com.
