AMC's The Walking Dead returns in October, at which point we'll learn the fates of Rick, Michonne, Glenn and the rest of the survivors trapped inside the train car at Terminus. But just how dangerous will this season become for the characters?

EW.com spoke with several cast members as part of its Walking Dead cover shoot and got some previews from the various actors. Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, said the characters are "heading into the heart of darkness," which doesn't sound too optimistic no matter how you slice it. As for Rick himself, Lincoln said his character "is probably at the most complete place he's been ever since the apocalypse started." That makes sense, given Rick's transformation in the Season 4 finale from farmer to badass.

Danai Gurira, meanwhile, said Michonne has "a very interesting arc," while Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan talked about if Glenn and Maggie are safer when they are together or apart.

Three new promo photos for Season 5 have also popped up online. The first one, comes from IGN and shows Tyreese and Sasha looking at something off screen. This would indicate that they are not trapped in the train car forever.

The other photos, from TheWrap, show Carol holding a gun and looking out of a broken window. The final photo, which you can view at the top of the page, shows Maggie standing in a building as walkers shuffle in behind her.

What do you make of the cast's comments, and what do you think of the photos? Let us know in the comments section.
