The rock star's influence can still be seen in today's Latin American music, especially in Shakira's Oral Fixation album and by the popular Mexican Cafe Tacuba, who honored the late Argentinian rocker on their official Facebook page.

The Los Angeles Times announced the death of the rock musician. Cerati suffered from a stroke that lead to him collapsing during a concert in Caracas, Venezuela. The Latin Grammy winner underwent surgery for a blood clot in his brain, but he never regained consciousness.

In the 80s, Cerati joined bassist Zeta Bossio and drummer Charly Alberti to form the group, Sod Stereo. The band's discography consists of 7 studio albums, which includes the critically acclaimed Sueno Stereo and Dynamo.

Though the group disbanded after their heyday, the lead singer/songwriter enjoyed a successful solo career, which lead to him producing the Oral Fixation album. They were known to be described as the Latin American version of Depeche Mode.
