Martina Navratilova & Julia Lemigova Engaged: Cute Proposal Takes Place At US Open

Martina Navratilova and Julia Lemigova are now engaged, after Martina proposed to her long-time partner at the US Open. The nine-time Wimbledon champion, in all white, popped the question to her model girlfriend. Her 42-year-old girlfriend was stunned, and covered her mouth in shock. No matter what happens in the remainder of this tennis tournament, there will be at least one happy ending at the 2014 US Open.

Martina explained her proposal, saying, "I have been waiting for the right time to ask Julia to marry me. I thought this was the right place and the right time to pop the question and thankfully I got a yes." Soon after she also tweeted, saying "Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I am very happy, so is Julia and our whole family."

The tennis legend came out as gay in 1981, and she's been with Lemigova since 2006, but now the happy couple are celebrating their lvoe for one another at one of the biggest sports tournaments on the entire planet. Tennis fans have been full of joy, seeing a legend cement her own happiness alongside the sport she loves, and that made her who she is.
