Sad news - "Chicago Fire" actress Molly Glynn died in a freak bicycle accident on Saturday (Sept. 6), when a tree fell on her during a casual ride in the popular city suburbs.

Glynn's husband and fellow actor Joe Foust recently shared the tragic news through a touching Facebook tribute:

"I couldn't save her. I couldn't save her. She's gone. Friends of mine put this together and I have been amazed at the generosity. I really couldn't see how I could go forward, and this helped ease the burden. We always got by, by the seat of our pants. I had less than 70 bucks in the bank. No idea how to pay what would double all my bills. So grateful for the assistance."

Fans can visit the Molly Glynn Memorial Trust here.

"I want to respond to every individual who has helped out in this terrible time, but not sure when I can. Molly would be so grateful to all of you. I couldn't still be here without that support network. I would have laid down next to her and died. I will continue to struggle to find love and joy and goodness. If I was gone, I would have wished she could find those things again, too. I will continue to try to find a new way to live. I just can picture it yet."

Reports confirm that Glynn and Foust were riding their bikes on the Erickson Woods Forest Preserve when a tree suddenly fell and struck her on Friday afternoon (CBS Chicago). She was quickly transported to the Evanston Hospital but later died from severe injuries. Heavy winds allegedly caused the down tree.

Writers Theatre in Chicago artistic director Michael Halberstam later released in a statement:

"She was a loving mother and wife and everyone who met her fell in love with her... She possessed a rare combination of talent, heart and beauty in all aspects of her life."

The 46-year-old theater actress also starred in several television roles, including a stint on "Early Edition."

Thoughts and condolences go out to Glynn's family, friends, and fans during this tragic time.
