Based on the Dark Horse Comics adaptation, Guillermo Del Toro's The Strain continues with another exciting episode on FX. Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) has just lost a member of their crew, but can Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) stand lose another one, especially when the vampires come hunting for son, Zach (Ben Hyland) in 'The Disappeared?'

Zach Goodweather (Hyland) returns home to find his living room a complete mess. All of a sudden, his mother's boyfriend strikes out and attacks the boy as a vampire. Outside the house, Eph (Stoll) has just arrived in the bread truck.

Eph runs straight inside the house, rescues his son, and decapitates the infected boyfriend. The mother is nowhere to be seen, which worries Eph. He makes sure Zach is packed and ready to go to Abraham (Bradley)'s pawn shop.

While Nora (Mia Maestro) and Eph stay behind to burn Frank's body, the others drive off towards the pawn shop. But first, they have to make a pit stop to Dutch's apartment. Once she searches her room, the hacker discovers everything, including the money, was stolen by her friend.

Abraham and Zach have a heart-to-heart talk, almost like a grandfather/grandson type of conversation. The old hunter explains there is a power in naming the infected as vampires. The plague is like rabies being passed from human to human. Zach must move on from this and never fail in life.

While Gus carries out his infected friend out of their jail cell, Dutch's friend shows up as a bloodsucker. Vasiliy then drives his little pickaxe into her head. The two get back into the car and drive straight to Abraham's pawn shop.

After Eph and Nora burn Frank's body, they reminisce about their dead friend, Jimmy. Nora realizes this is the weirdest memorial she's ever been to. Eph though cannot say a good thing about Frank.

In Abraham's flashback, The Master continues to feed on the prisoners in the concentration camp. Though Abraham tries to hurt him, the Master crushes his fingers. Because his hands are damaged, Thomas Echorist (Richard Sammel) has no more use for him. Finally the Allies arrive, with the planes swooping in and gunfire in the background, giving Abraham the perfect opportunity to escape.

While Nora and Eph make love like there's no tomorrow, Gus and his friend are inside the moving prison van. Gus's friend is now one of the vamps and he unleashes his stinger on the driver. The prison van swerves and crashes in the middle of the street.

As another cop dies, Gus takes his gun and aims the gun at his friend. After asking for forgiveness, Gus pulls the trigger and shoots him in the head. While the other prisoners unlock their chains, Gus starts running away.

After Eph returns to his son, Thomas finally arrives back at his home. Taking a deep breath, Thomas pulls out the silver bullet from his wounded leg. He remembers when the Master finally transformed him into a vampire.

We finally get to see what The Master looks like and he is definitely scary. Readers, what did you think of 'The Disappeared?'
