We know that you might be sick of True Detective season 2 casting rumors, but the latest gossip has us pretty excited. According to reports, Elisabeth Moss isn't the only actress in talks for the leading female role of the 2015 HBO series. Mean Girls starlet Rachel McAdams is apparently also up for the role! Also, director Justin Lin has been tapped to helm at least one episode of the Nic Pizzolatto show.

As far as how many episodes Lin would direct in season 2, it looks like it won't be the entire season's worth like Cary Fukunaga did in 2014. So we can probably expect one episode that has Lin in the director's seat next year - if the rumors are true.

Variety reports McAdams is in contention for the same role as Moss, which was also allegedly offered to Jessica Chastain earlier this year. So far creator Pizzolatto hasn't confirmed any of these rumors, and has even denied the earlier speculation, so for now we just have to wait to find out who joins the cast.

Also rumored for roles in the second season of HBO's crime drama are Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, and Taylor Kitsch. Again, HBO nor the stars have confirmed any casting news.

Variety reports:

Nic Pizzolatto is writing the second season, which is set in California and is said to revolve around the investigation of a corrupt city manager who gets murdered amidst a potential groundbreaking transportation deal.
