Canadian rapper and pop star iSH (also known as Ishan Morris) has quite a resume on his hands. Not only is his music creating a buzz all over the USA, Canada and Europe, he has an acting career that includes appearances in Saw 3D, a number of TV series appearances, and even a McDonalds advertisement! After his recent EP release Up & Up, it's clear that his upcoming debut album will be a massive hit, so you'll want to get to know Ishan a bit better. Check out our exclusive interview with him below, in which he talks about LeBron James, Andrew Wiggins, Justin Bieber and much, much more.

You've become a huge hit in both Canada and America, but for those who haven't had the chance to hear your music, how would you describe it?

I have a hard time describing my music as I take on quite a few different styles. Some of my music is very upbeat and summery whereas other songs are a bit darker and moody. As a writer, I try and touch on all the different emotions we feel as people in every day life. Nobody wants to "party" all the time, or whatever it may be. Sometimes we're happy, sometimes we're sad, sometimes we're in love, sometimes we're heartbroken etc. I just try to touch on all these from an honest standpoint.

You are also an actor, and you appeared in Saw 3D. What kind of experience was that?

Saw was interesting. I think the best part of that was showing up on set only to find out that the actress in the scene with me was someone I actually went to school with in NYC and hadn't seen in ages. I'd say the most fun I've had on set was probably filming the CW series Nikita, because I played a bad guy and got to shoot huge machine guns and the SyFy series Defiance because I played an Alien and had to wear all kinds of crazy prosthetics.

Can we expect to see you on our screens for any non-music purposes in the future?

I'm still doing lots of acting and voice-over work - so most definitely!

You've worked with some huge stars already. How did working with 3OH!3 and Daniel Richter come about?

Working with Nat Motte (of 3OH!3) was great! We have some mutual friends and he was in the city, we met and got along really well. We actually worked on a few songs together; he's a very talented producer. Daniel Richter and I met at an iTunes showcase we were both performing at. I told him I had a song I think he'd be great on and we recorded it a couple weeks later. We shot the video for that in Havana, Cuba, and it was an absolute blast! I've also done a lot of work with Don Diablo, our remix of Martin Solveig's "Hello" hit no. 1 on The Hype Machine and ended up being added to Martin Solveig's official EP.

Your latest release Up & Up has earned rave reviews. How much does that project mean to you?

The project was a lot of fun to make! Travelling, writing and collaborating with so many talented people is inspiring. The hardest part of making the EP was probably choosing which songs to put on it because each song is important to me for different reasons.

Can we expect a big album release in the future?

I am currently recording and working on an album. It's definitely still in the beginning stages; however I'll also be releasing a mixtape for free download in the meantime.

Your music has gained a lot of respect for its lyrical content and strong flow. Have you always been one to write from your heart?

I just try to write from an honest perspective and not push or force anything.

Which track of yours if your favorite, and why?

"Rollin'" is my favorite, not only because it was the first single but more so that I wrote it during a dark time in my life when I was feeling low. It was written as a pick me up for myself. The fact that it helped inspire so many others is extremely humbling. It's been used in anti bullying campaigns; someone used it as their motivation while battling cancer. Those are things I didn't expect at all.

How does it feel to see the likes of Justin Bieber and Andrew Wiggins doing big things for Canada?

I'm happy when anyone from Canada succeeds. We were in the shadows there for a while but now it's rad to see the whole world taking notice of all the talent coming out of now only Toronto, but the entire country.

You seem to get a lot of love from the ladies. Has that always been the case?

[Laughs] I'd love to say that was the case but probably not...

What do you think of LeBron James coming back to the Cleveland Cavaliers?

I think it's amazing! He's bringing it back home! I think it'll be great for the city.
