Ellen DeGeneres ALS Ice Bucket Challenge [VIDEO] Host Dumps Water On Herself During 'Ellen' Season 12 Premiere

Ellen DeGeneres finally takes the plunge and does the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which has been a month in the making. The talk show host waiting until the 12^th season premiere of her show to douse herself with a cooler of freezing cold water, and in typical Ellen fashion she made the moment so special for a lucky fan.

By now, almost everyone has seen Anthony Carbajal heartbreaking video of himself explaining why he chose to participate in the ice bucket challenge. The 26-year-old revealed that he was just diagnosed with the disease in the emotional YouTube clip, which has since gained 16 million views.

Ellen invited Carbajal and his family to be on the season premiere of her show, and she in turn did something really special with Anthony. They both took the time out to get ice cold water dumped over their heads to raise awareness for ALS research.

The talk show host was nominated by Carbajal, as well as a few others, and she said she was always planning on participating.

"I was planning on doing it. There was no way that I wasn't doing it and then I saw your video and in the beginning of the video he nominated me," Ellen explains to her audience, before asking Anthony, "Why did you nominate me?"

In the clip from the show, Anthony explains why he decided to nominate the 56-year-old funny lady.

"Well, our family loves you so much. We really love you Ellen. My mom and I watch the show every day," Anthony explains. "I am a wedding photographer and I edit during the day, at least I was a wedding photographer, but I would help my Mom during the day and no matter that kind of struggle we felt or went through during the day at 4 o'clock we always watched Ellen and you lifted our spirits. And I know you lift a lot of other people's spirits. And I think you're going to answer it? I don't know. I didn't think I'd sit here in this chair with you but I'm so happy and grateful. This probably is the best day of my mom's and I life."

After the emotional explanation, Ellen and Anthony walked to the center of the stage where they got a cooler of ice water dumped over their heads.

Ellen in turn decided to nominate Beyonce, and Kim Kardashian who Ellen is hoping accepts the challenge during her appearance on today's show.
