Undefeated boxer, Floyd Mayweather is backing disgraced Baltimore Ravens running back, Ray Rice after video of him punching his wife, Janay Palmer in the face, leaving her unconscious in an Atlantic City hotel elevator went viral. The 37-year-old believed that the previous two game suspensions was a better punishment than releasing the NFL athlete indefinitely.

In an interview with MLive the boxer tried to defend Ray saying, "They had said that they had suspended him for two games. Whether they saw the tape or not, I truly believe a person should stick to their word. If you tell me you're going to do something, do what you say you're going to do. But once again, I'm not in the NFL, so I can't really speak on the situation."

He added, "I think there's a lot worse things that go on in other people's households. It's just not caught on video." He added, "I know he's probably going through a lot right now because football is his passion, football is his love. It's no different than with me being in the fight game, if they told me, 'Floyd, you've got the biggest deal in sports history,' and then a couple months later, they say, 'You know what, your deal is taken away from you' - oh, man. It's not really just the money, it's just the love of the sport, the passion."

In 2012, the boxing champ was imprisoned for 63 days after his own domestic squabbles with his former girlfriend, Josie Harris. Floyd was sentenced for domestic battery after Jose claimed he pulled her hair and twisted her arm in front of their children.

Recently, Floyd's ex-fiancée, Shantel Jackson revealed that's he was abused by him and  on September 4, attorney Gloria Allred stated in a news conference that she filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against him.

The model claimed that he assaulted her during several heated arguments and even pulled a firearm on her, "He twisted [her] arm, choked her and forcibly took her phone away from her to look through it." Gloria added during the press conference that the 46-0 Champ "bent her arm, restrained her, and pointed a gun at her foot, asking 'Which toe do you want me to shoot?'"

Should Floyd lay low on commenting on domestic abuse?
