With the premiere just a few weeks away, Fox has released a few set photos from their upcoming DC Comics series, Gotham. In the Batman prequel, get ready to meet Carol Kane as the domineering mother of co-star Robin Taylor, the lowly henchmen who will one day become the mob boss known as The Penguin

As we reported, the Addams Family star joins the cast as Gertrud Kapelput, the dominating mother of Oswald Coppleput (Taylor). Gertrud is described as a proud and faded beauty queen with delusions of grandeur. Kane will be making her big entrance in the second episode.

Penguin's mother only showed up once in the Caped Crusader's comics and her appearance goes way back when Robin originally showed up in the '40s. In the story, Penguin's parents don't even know he is the most-hated criminal in Gotham CIty. The Batman villain asks the dynamic duo to help trick his folks into thinking he is really a hero.

Entertainment Weekly got the scoop on the first photos of Penguin's Mom. In this darker take, the Scrooged star seems to have a Tim Burton vibe going on with her wardrobe. Channeling Miss Havisham, her outfit looks faded and worn-out, as if she hasn't changed her clothing in awhile. We also see that she has two type of personalities within her.

In the first picture, Gertrud is calm and serene, almost a sweet maternal figure. In the second snapshot, as she pops her eyes wide open, the crazy side suddenly shows up. This makes sense as we see how Oswald grows up to be Batman's worthy adversary.

Gotham premieres on Fox September 22 at 8 pm. Readers, are you excited to see Carol Kane as the Penguin's mother?
