Heartthrob English actor Tom Hardy said in an interview with USA Today that he no longer would sign on to do a romantic comedy.

Hardy starred in This Means War with Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine back in 2012 and he said that his adventurous attitude led to his decision to do the film.

"I love to do things I hadn't done before," he explained. "I didn't understand how you could do something which is so fun and be so miserable doing it."

The actor has had notable film roles in movies that are a far cry from rom-coms. He made his feature film debut in Ridley Scott's 2001 war thriller Black Hawk Down. The actor has had many other dramatic roles such as Blood and In Arabia We'd Be Kings where he won the 2003 London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer for his performances. He's even played a drug-addicted rapist in the 2008 British horror-thriller The Killing Gene.

From his resume of playing drug addicts and gangsters one could understand his frustration with his role as Tuck Hansen, a CIA agent who finds out him and his best friend are dating the same girl.

"I probably won't do a romantic comedy again, do you know what I mean?"

Hardy stared alongside the late actor, James Gandolfini in the movie The Drop, which premiered last week at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was a bittersweet moment at TIFF, celebrating the movie but in the absence of Gandolfini.

"The man I met I loved," said Hardy. "He was a brilliant actor. Super talented. Super sensitive, vulnerable, emotional articulate, generous, kind."

In respects to making it big in Hollywood, Hardy is not inclined to the lifestyle it comes with. "I hate being tracked or followed," he said. "I don't like it when people say, 'Well, you should have expected that when you accepted the job as an actor,'" he adds. "When you go to drama school, no one gives you a class on fame ... whether I'm married or not married, people will find out. But it's also not something I'm going to offer."
