Kira Kazantsev Miss America 2015 Miss New York Takes Home Crown- 5 Things We Know About Pageant Queen

Kira Kazantsev is your new Miss America 2015. The 23-year-old pageant queen has become the third Miss New York in a row to take home the title, following in Nina Davuluri's footsteps, but what do we really know about this new starlet.

We're breaking it down for all you fans at there and giving you 5 facts to know about your new reigning Queen.

1.    She's got some serious brains in her head.

Not only did she graduate from Hofstra University after triple majoring in Political Science, Global Studies, and Geography, but she also plans to attend Law School after she finishes her reign as Miss America. Kira has already been accepted and plans to attend Fordham University's Law School.

2.    Talk about a triple threat.

According to Metro, she not only speaks English but also is fluent in Russian and Spanish. Her parents are Russian immigrants, which made learning the language pretty easy.

"I always enjoy spending time in the Russian-speaking community," Kazantsev told the Brooklyn daily. "It's like a home away from home."

3.    She's not a native New Yorker.

The beauty queen was actually a California resident up until five years ago when she traded the West Coast in for the East Coast to attend college on Long Island.

4.    She's a Huge Domestic Violence Advocate.

After experiencing an abusive relationship when she was in college, Kira has become an advocate for victims of domestic violence, according to New York Daily News. She explained that she wants to spread awareness about getting help during an abusive relationship. Her platform has been titled, "Love Shouldn't Hurt: Protecting Women Against Domestic Violence.

5.    She's One "Happy" Girl.

 During the talent portion of the competition Kazantsev performed a rendition of Pharrell William's "Happy" and while other the other contestants stood up to belting out their songs, Kira choose to sit cross-legged on the stage and perform a mash-up with the song "Cups" from the movie Pitch Perfect.
