American Horror Story: Freak Show is right around the corner and today creator Ryan Murphy is teasing some pretty interesting details about the fourth season of the FX series. The show, which is taking on a carnival theme this year will be set in 1952 in Jupiter, Florida and will star returning cast members Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, and Angela Bassett to name a few.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Murphy gave some pretty juicy spoilers about the upcoming season, including if Lange's character is once again the shows villain, who Emma Roberts will play, and what the theme for season five will be.

Jessica Lange might be used to playing the villain on AHS but this year it seems like the star is set to take on a more benevolent character in her portrayal of Elsa Mars.

"The thing about Elsa is she's a very benevolent soul in that her sideshow has been going on since the '30s," Murphy explains of the main character. "What she's done for 20 years is she goes around to hospitals and jails and rescues these "freak" circus performers who are going to be shipped away to asylums and she signs the waivers and she becomes their guardians. So she loves them and takes care of them. She's sort of like the mama of all of them. She's trying to do anything to do this freak show going because where are these people going to go."

As far as Emma Roberts, the creator explained that the returning Horror Story star will be playing a very interesting part in the new installment.

"She's a fortuneteller with a crystal ball who's a complete con artist," he reveals. "She shows up at the camp to help them and it ends up terribly bad." He also reveals that the star will once again have a relationship with her real-life boyfriend Evan Peters on the show.

As far as how the tone of the new season compares to that of seasons past, Ryan explains that it will be very much like season two.

"There's no supernatural element... well a little bit. It's very much in that Asylum world," Murphy told EW. "There's no sort of Elizabeth Montgomery/Bewitched stuff going on. This season, once you die, you're dead. There's no supernatural thing to bring you back like last year. It's just completely new. It feels completely new. I'm shooting it in a different style. It sounds different."

While the fourth season is yet to premiere, Ryan explained that he also has a few ideas for the theme of season five.

"I have a couple ideas I really really like," Murphy explained. "I'm sort of thinking over which ones. I'll probably spread clues in too."
