Mindy Lahiri and Danny Castellano might be in love on The Mindy Project but it doesn't seem like star of the series Mindy Kaling's love life is anything like that of the character that she plays on TV. While the former The Office star has also dated a coworker, it didn't end well for the actress. Hopefully the same won't be said about Mindy and Danny's budding relationship.

According to E! News, Kaling explained her devastation about her breakup with Office costar B.J. Novak during an interview with Howard Stern.

"He broke up with me," Mindy explained. "It was years ago that the breakup happened."

While the star explains that the two are still "best friends," she does say that their split was a tough blow for her.

"That was the hottest I've ever looked because I stopped eating," the star revealed. "When I get depressed I stop eating. So I was so miserable and so beautiful. I remember waking up, barely getting out of bed and we worked together but I didn't care. I had no makeup on... I was real miserable."

Mindy even explains to Howard that she would have gotten married to B.J. had he asked.

"At the time? Oh yeah. I was 24,"she stated. "For the record if anyone asked to marry me I would have said yes."

However, while the star might have not such fond memories of the breakup she does tell Stern that the sex she had with Novak was pretty good.

"It was pretty damn good," the actress explained. "Real good. He's a smart and funny guy."

While the two have remained friends even afeter the split, she explains that they will never get back together.

"I love him, I think he's a great person but I' not holding a candle for B.J.," Mind revealed.

Catch up with Mindy and the rest of the gang when the third season of The Mindy Project premieres tonight on FOX at 9:30.
