Destiny has already taken over the gaming world since its Sept. 9 release date, but an unfortunate amount of gamers and critics have been sharing some negative reviews of the video game online. Unfortunately for the game's developer, Bungie, this means that Ubisoft could withhold a bonus of around $2.5 million from the company, thanks to an earlier agreement. Low review scores on GameRankings and Metacritic are to blame, it seems!

According to reports, if Destiny reaches a score of 90 on the review websites listed above, Ubisoft would pay out $2.5 million to Bungie. Here is an excerpt from agreement, provided by Kotaku:

Activision shall pay to Licensor a quality bonus (the "Quality Bonus") in the amount of Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($2,500,000) should Destiny Game #1 achieve a rating of at least 90 as determined by gamerankings.com (or equivalent reputable services if gamerankings.com is no longer in sen/ice) as of thirty (30) days following the commercial release of Destiny Game #1 on Xbox 360.

As Kotoku points out, this contract is very old - going back to around 2012, which the actual contract being drafted in 2010. This means that the agreement could've changed.

As of now, the ratings on GameRankings and Metacritic are in the 70s range, which isn't looking good for Bungie if the contract still stands.
