TNT's hit sci-fi series Falling Skies had to stop filming on new episodes for the show's 5th and final season this week after a tragic accident ended in the death of a security guard. According to reports, an unattended truck rolled down a hill and struck the crew member, pinning him against a tree and killing him.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and on behalf of the producers and TNT, we wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of the security guard," TNT said in a statement, according to Deadline.

The final season of the hit show is currently filming in Vancouver and the victim was a member of the Vancouver Teamsters Local 155.

"There was an unfortunate accident regarding one of our security guards," the organization's Secretary Treasurer, Ken Marsden, said, declining to speak further to Deadline about the incident.

According to a spokesperson for WorkSafeBC (British Columbia's Workers' Compensation Board), Scott McCloy, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is investigating the incident to see if it was an accident or a mechanical error.

"A five-ton truck parked on a 6% slope had been left unattended," McCloy explained. "The vehicle tailgate was lowered for off-loading of equipment. The truck rolled backwards down the slope and the deceased worker was caught between the tailgate and the tree."

Though the victim has not been named, we send out our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
