R&B songstress Beyoncé Knowles has joined forces with the United Nations and fellow humanitarian aid organizations to launch the global "World Humanitarian Day" which will take place on August 19.

The Campaign was launched on Thursday, and Beyoncé announced she will film a video for her "4" song "I Was Here"(inspired by the 9/11 terrorist attacks) in front of a live audience in the U.N. General Assembly Hall in New York, which will also be released globally on Aug. 19. Donations will then be made to the U.N. campaign in the names of Beyoncé and songwriter Diane Warren.

Beyoncé recently appeared in a PSA for the Campaign, which you can view below. Recorded in black-and-white, Beyoncé states, "It's high time we rise together," she says. "Do one thing for another human being - nothing is too small. It begins with each of us. Make your mark and say 'I was here.'"

Beyoncé's track "I was Here" then begins to play in the background as the video cuts to images of people living throughout the world. Beyoncé closes with, "One day, one message, 1 billion taking action for each other. I'll see you then."

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos claims, "World Humanitarian Day celebrates humanitarian work. I hope everyone will pledge to complete at least one humanitarian action - however great or small - through www.whd-iwashere.org. Together we can create an unprecedented awareness of the plight of people affected by crises around the world."

Started in 2008, "World Humanitarian Day" takes place each year on Aug. 19 in remembrance of the 22 people who died during an attack on the U.N. offices in Baghdad in 2003. The Campaign hopes to raise public awareness of the need for humanitarian support around the world.

The Campaign hopes to reach out to at least 1 billion people on Aug. 19.

Beyoncé's announcement follows a mysterious message posted on her fan site in late July which read, "Leave your footprint 19 August 2012." Many fans were baffled considering Beyoncé has yet to release any info on an upcoming album or release since last summer's hit record "4."

But even with a baby onboard, looks like Beyoncé isn't slowing down any time soon.

"We all see the headlines, and we think, 'What can I really do to help?'" the "Countdown" star said in a recent statement. "World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care."
