San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan Meets Frank Castle In Michael Choi's 'The Punisher' #11!

Known for dressing up as Marvel Comics anti-hero on Halloween, the San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan will finally get a chance to meet his idol, Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. Artist Michael Choi has put together the comic book icon and the basketball champ for the special cover of The Punisher #11.  

The 14-time NBA All-Star player and his crew at BlackJack Speed Shop, along with the comic book guys guys at Heroes and Fantasies, put together the idea of a custom car that the gritty vigilante might actually drive. In the comics, Frank makes his way around town through hijacking motorcycles and stealing cars. This time around, the anti-hero will get the keys to his very own car from the famous sports athlete. 

In an interview with NBA, the Superior Iron Man artist spent three days getting the details right to the facial features. If you notice in the drawing, the name tag on the shirt even says, "Tim."  The two aren't buddies in the artwork, but they do have respect for one another. 

Choi explains his artistic choices, "It was important to me to get Tim's face and demeanor right, it was really hard to try and capture his look without being able to put him in a #21 jersey! But I'm really happy with the final product." 

The San Antonio native adds, "I'm really proud that although Marvel asked me if I could put a prominent Punisher skull on the car keys.I chose to sacrifice that in order to draw a big fat championship ring on Tim's hand instead, and put that in the center instead!"

Through their Facebook, BlackJack Speed Shop announced that they are building an actual replica of the black vehicle featured on the cover. The car will be auctioned off and all proceeds will be donated to a local San Antonio charity.

The Punisher #11, with Tim Duncan's on the cover, makes it way nto stores on Oct. 25. Readers, are you excited to see Duncan meet The Punisher?
